W7 Cosmetics Haul

Blooming Fiction W7 makeup haul

Hoorah! It's the first haul on Blooming Fiction!

My makeup drawer is going through a major overhaul as I discover which brands are cruelty free. I'm pleased to say that after scouring various sites W7 came through as being an animal friendly brand, which is why I took it upon myself to invest in some products from their range. I have previously purchased the W7 Nudes palette, which I love, so it only seemed right to buy from a range I knew delivered affordable products which are easy to work with.

First in my basket is the W7 Blush With Me colour cubes. Similar in design to some of the high end designer brands, this simple quad setup is easy on the eye and gives you a great selection of blushes which will be suitable throughout the year. Two of the four shades would also make their use spread further as highlighters. I've tried all four shades separately but my favourite use for the palette is to use my blusher brush across all the shades to create a lovely warm glow.

Next up is the W7 Brow Parlour. This is the first specific eyebrow product I have ever bought as I've previously just used dark brown eye shadow to fill in the gaps. I love the idea of having everything you need in one palette so of course it ended up in my basket. In the tin you get some eyebrow wax ( top left ), a highlighter shade for the brow bone and two shades of brown powders. I've not yet touched the included brush and tweezers as I use Real Techniques brushes for application. However, when I go travelling the all in one compact will be used absolutely.

I've not used the W7 Oh So Waterproof mascara yet but even as I took the snaps of the brush I got excited. I've used too many mascaras in the past where there is so little to the brush it actually hurts my eyelids, I think I have a very unique way of applying the product .... in case you were wondering how on Earth the brush would hurt me. Since my previous mascara has been with me since June it was time to get a new one started. There's nothing flash or fancy about this mascara but it does claim to be waterproof, this is what I'll be testing! I've got no intention of heading near large expanses of water, but when you're pregnant you cry at the drop of a hat. Waterproof mascara is currently essential for me.

Last in my haul is the W7 Smokin eye palette. As soon as I saw the shades I knew I had to have this tin. Smokey eyes is something I've never been able to achieve, I've always come out looking like a panda, so this is the tool I need to get practising. There are 12 shades in the palette which range between shimmer and matte consistencies, as well as having greys, browns and nude shades to choose from. I swatched the shimmer shades above to show the pigmentation of the shadows but felt that a swatch would be wasted for the mattes as some shades are so light you wouldn't really see them on the camera. The price of £9.95 is really reasonable for this product as it doesn't crease and it doesn't require a primer beforehand. It isn't as long lasting as some other brands but the colours look great and don't take much to have a quick top up if needed.

  1. The Smokin Eye palette looks so nice! Reminds me of Urban Decay palettes, the W7 ones are a lot cheaper though.
