Water Beads | The Pretty Alternative For Fake Flowers

Blooming Fiction, lifestyle blog, Water Beads, The Pretty Alternative For Fake Flowers

I love to receive flowers as much as anyone else but it pains me every time they wither and die. I get so excited to have something so beautiful in my front room, but then the (lovely) hot weather arrives and the once gorgeous bouquet turns into the kind of plant you'd find in Little Shop Of Horrors.

Searching for an alternative isn't hard when it comes to finding fake flowers to display during the flower wiltering months, but I wanted to go a step further and substitute fake water for a splash of colour.

You may, or may not, have seen these before but they are fab! Water beads are pretty much what they say on the tin. They're little beads which absorb water and grow, a little like those novelty gifts you can get in joke shops. They're low maintenance, needing just a quick rinse now and again, and look sooo pretty in a vase.

So how do they work? Pretty easy really. Just pop the small beads into a jug of cold water, wait 24 hours then grab them out, drain them off and hey presto. Done.

Water beads come in a huge amount of different colours so you can easily match them up with your favourite flowers or colours. My personal favourite is blue so I went for a nice aqua mix, which I love!

The beads last ages and it saves you a few pennies on your water bill too. What do you reckon?
