Gillette Snap | Is It Worth The Hype?

Blooming Fiction. lifestyle blog, Gillette Snap | Is It Worth The Hype?

As one of the more recent launches for the Venus range, the Snap caused a lot of excitement when it launched. Being a dominating brand for hair removal, Gillette supposedly done it again as they brought out the latest 'it' product for shaving. But is this dinky razor really worth all the attention? I bought one to find out!!

On first looking at my Venus Snap razor I instantly notice how truly dinky the handle is. Having a compact razor is a fab idea as we've all had emergency situations, but the handle really is tiny. I can just about work my way around it but surely some kind of foldable handle would have been better for a more secure grip? Cutting myself on 5 blades won't be a great look if I accidentally lose grip of the tiny so called handle.

Speaking of which, that is actually my favourite part about this razor. The fact that it has 5 blades!! The amount of times I've been tempted to pick up some men's razors because they have more blades is ridiculous. A close shave is what women are dictated to need ( though sometimes I don't bother shaving at all for a day or two ) so the fact that most women's shavers have 2 or even 3 blades is an insult when men usually get at least 4 blades. That aside .... the 5 blades do work in sync and effortlessly provide a close shave which leaves a lovely silky feeling afterwards. Even on scaly skin like mine.

Since the Venus Snap is designed to be used with a splash of water, there are some built in bars of moisture on the razor head to make shaving kinder to your skin. What your shaver head consists of will vary depending on the blades you buy, but the one included in the model I bought was an Embrace blade.

I do have one more little niggle about this product and that is that there is nowhere to store a spare razor blade. There's no point in taking the compact on holiday if you need to carry another case for spare razors. Being on holiday with a blunt razor is not fun at all.

Apart from that ... the Venus Snap is a good little product but with some more work and a couple of tweaks it could be a great product!
