Breast Cancer Awareness Month | What You Can Do To Help

It's amazing that after so many years of public funding and strenuous research, we are still on the hunt to kill the beast of cancer. October is widely known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month so I thought I'd pitch in and help to spread the word of how easy it is to help the fight against this horrendous condition.

Here's some facts you should know:

  • 1 in 8 women can be diagnosed with breast cancer
  • 80% of women are still alive 5 years after diagnosis
  • It affects men too
  • Breast cancer is more likely in women over 50, and men over 60

In order to help the seemingly endless battle against cancer you don't need to be a qualified researcher or a genius at science. One of the biggest problems facing the unfound cure is funding. Using expensive equipment and running endless tests and experiments isn't cheap so in order to find a cure we all need to do our bit.

But how do you go about doing your bit? Well, in the tweaked phrase from Lord Kitchener .... Breast Cancer Needs You

How You Can Help The Fight Against Breast Cancer

Race For Life
Not necessarily just for breast cancer, the race for life is one of the biggest cancer aimed charity events in the UK. Dress to impress ( naturally in a onesie and bunny ears ) and get your friends and family involved to help raise some cash. Whether you raise and up and over a grand or a couple of hundred pounds, every penny helps. Plus with a selection of different races to take part in you can have a different experience each time.

If you want to find out more about the Race For Life hop through the link HERE.

Sponsored What Evs
There's an endless amount of sponsored events you can take part in. But of course the sillier the better. How about having some races inside an indoor play gym? OR you can do something quieter like a sponsored silence, or try an insomniac challenge and not sleep for 2 days. The choices are out there so go out there and grab them.

Bring And Buy
Car boots are always popular and so are cake sales. So what do you do? Combine them together! Grab a load of local residents or your friends and set up a bring and buy sale for cancer research. Even if you donate half the proceeds ( in order to pay for a hall rental etc ) this money can still make a massive difference.

Simply Donate Money
Just think. If every person in the UK donated £1 to cancer research, we could raise over £65 million in one hit! Just think what that kind of money could do for cancer research! Putting in a pound can literally be the difference between life and death. If you want the cure do your bit and pop a pound in the pot.
