The Reading Group Book Review

Blooming Fiction, The Reading Group Book Review

Meet the Reading Group: Grace, Anne-Marie, Kate, Jojo and Serena, as different as can be but who you can count on in good times and bad. No topic is off-limits: books, family, love and loss . . and don't forget the glass of red!

Each month they meet in Serena's beautiful cliff-top cottage to discuss a good book - and their lives, which are sometimes stranger than fiction! Between new loves and old flames, cheating husbands and wayward children, there's always a surprise around the corner...

Review

Book clubs are without a doubt one of the best places to get some juicy gossip. The Reading Group proves it. Not only are these meet ups great for talking books but making friends, and sharing life experiences, make the sessions much more fun. Especially over a bottle of wine or two.

The Reading Group follows a group of ladies who all have their own problems in life. Without giving away too much of the plot, the chaps aren't left out of the group at the end.

Book choices featured in the group are really quite good with Jane Austen featured and nods towards The Great Gatsby. Classics aren't really my cup of tea but it's great to see such masterpieces included in the The Reading Group.

Out of all the sub plots in the book my favourite lady has been Anne Marie. There was something about her character that clicked with me from the beginning - not something that happens too often for me. The end of her story resonated with certain events I've been through so my connection with Anne Marie made me really enjoy this book.

As my first read from Della Parker I've loved the style of writing and found it really easy to read. The stories in the plot are believable with realistic characters and I'm really hoping to see more from these characters.
