Downloaded as a freebie on the Kindle Store, I wasn't expecting much in regards to how much you get for your money, or lack of in this instance. However How To Crochet - A Guide For Newbies has actually impressed in that there is more detail and accuracy here than what I've seen in some more higher priced pieces.

What struck me first of all was the lack of extensive history behind crochet. I find that too many books are fluffed up with a history, which isn't really needed, to make the book appear bigger. The fact that you can crack straight on with learning the basics of crochet in this book is marvellous.

Beginning with the most basic element, how to hold a crochet hook, the How To Crochet - A Guide For Newbies book speaks in layman's terms and has clear imagery to assist in learning. The language is so easy to understand and follow it's not surprising why this book has received some great reviews before I stumbled across it.

The detail in the chapters is fantastic for the price and even before finishing the book there are some beginner patterns to try out to start practising the technique. In my opinion this is by far the most affordable and effective beginner's manuals for crochet I've seen.
