Catch Me If You Cannes Book Review

Blooming Fiction, lifestyle blog, Catch Me If You Cannes Book Review

Jess has decided it's time to get out of her comfort zone and live a little. So when her best friend Bryony, a journalist on a gossip magazine, is sent to cover the Cannes Film Festival, Jess decides to seize the day and go along for the ride. Two weeks of sun, glamour and exclusive entry into celeb-filled parties is just the kind of adventure Jess needs.
Reality soon bites though when Jess and Bryony find they're staying in a dingy hotel far away from all the action and Bryony's expenses budget barely covers a glass of local wine. Undeterred, the two women are determined to live like the elite and enjoy one fancy night out to begin their holiday. So what if they have to tell a few white lies along the way? It's just this once. No harm done . . . right?

I'm going to jump straight in and say this was the easiest 5 stars I've given out in a while. Catch Me If You Cannes is set in the slightly obvious location of Cannes in southern France, which also happens to be on my bucket list of places to visit. I'm not a designer snob or anything but I'd love to have a stroll along the French Riviera and spot some stunning luxury yachts that I will never get to ride.

Catch Me If You Cannes follows a pair of friends as they chase around celebrities at the famous Cannes film festival. Jess purely goes along for the ride but soon ends up spending a huge amount of cash on designer glasses and ends up completely smitten with a guy who loves nutella.

Leaving a string of lies behind them, Jess and her journalist friend Bryony wangle their way into an exclusive party and get up close to some social climbers. Not everyone is welcoming, a certain snobby hostess certainly leaves an imprint on the characters, and me for that matter. But, like in any good plot, the lies spiral out of control and revelations occur which spell out karma. But just who is nutella man? As if I'm going to tell you that!!

I fell in love with Catch Me If You Cannes within the first few pages. It's so easy to run with the story, it feels like you're a part of it from the word go. It's easy reading and doesn't need a huge amount of attention, great if you've got a young baby like me. The plot is catchy, funny and a tad embarrassing in places .. just the way it should be!

If you haven't read a book by Lisa Dickenson yet this would be a great place to start, plus it's in such an idyllic setting. An easy 5 stars which will definitely make you want to read more from this author.

Another 5 star review I think you'd love is French Kisses by Jan Ellis.
