Book Tour - Poppy's Place In The Sun by Lorraine Wilson

With only her trusty dogs Peanut, Treacle and Pickwick by her side, Poppy Kirkbride could be forgiven for having doubts about her move to a quiet village in rural France. But as the sun shines down on her ramshackle new home, Poppy knows she’s made the right decision. A lick of paint, and some TLC and her rustic farmhouse will be the perfect holiday retreat – Poppy’s dream come true.
Poppy is welcomed by her fellow villagers, except for brooding local vet Leo Dubois, who makes it clear Poppy isn’t welcome in his village – or his life! Leo might be gorgeous, but Poppy won’t be told what to do by an arrogant Frenchman – no matter how kind and gentle he is to her dogs!
Determined to stay, Poppy tries to understand the enigmatic Frenchman better. But as the two get closer, Poppy sees another side to Leo – a man with heartbreak of his own. Falling in love with Leo is easy, but can he ever return Poppy's love? And what would this mean for her dream life and place in the sun?

I love a book with dogs as main characters! I don't know about you but I think they always soften a character and create an undeniable feeling of comfort and home. Since there's multiple dogs in this book I knew from the start this was going to be a cosy read which I would very quickly fall in love with.

Poppy's Place In The Sun follows Poppy as she moves into a beautiful rustic farmhouse in France. Already rethinking her choice to move, Poppy faces the arrogance of a French local who also happens to be the local vet. Despite being wonderful with animals, Leo is anything but nice to Poppy.

However, she is determined and strong willed. Not one to be deterred by a man who's too big for his boots. However, this is subject to change as Poppy sees another side to the man behind the facade.

So what did I like about Poppy's Place In The Sun? As my first read from Lorraine Wilson I was really impressed with the writing style and how easy it was to sink straight into the story. The friendly and engaging tone behind the writing makes the book instantly likeable and a great wager that I'll be reading more from this author.

Without revealing any of the plot, I'll say that the characters, storyline and imagery were completely relatable, indulgent and heartwarming. This would be a book I'd gladly pick up and read again tomorrow.
